100-Word Review: Role Models
Role Models was a funny-enough movie, but I couldn’t help but think it should’ve been funnier than it was, given its pedigree.  Paul Rudd and Christopher (“McLovin”) Mintz-Plasse mostly played straight men to poking fun at the SCA and LARPers; Seann William Scott and Bobb’e J. Thompson got all the funny lines.  Jane Lynch, as she tends to do in every movie she’s in, stole all of her scenes.  Surprisingly, the movie finds the humor in LARPing without making fun of the people involved (not too much, anyway), but rather shows how some people find respect and pride in it.
