Do or Do Not.

Safe?

Wow, I’m sure glad we’ve been fighting this “war on terrorism” for the last four yaers. We’ve given those terrorits what-for, haven’t we? I feel much safer now. They wouldn’t dare attack us or our allies after the way we invaded Iraq and captured that Saddam guy who masterminded 9/11, right? I mean, c’mon, that was clearly the best course of action we could have taken to curb the threat of terrorism, and it’s obviously working wonderfully.

Thanks, Mr. President!

Oh yes, the best political recourse for ending terrorism and tyranny (boy does Bush love that word) is killing everyone who wants to kill us. Everyone knows that. I feel so safe now. Let’s go to a major European city and wear our “Proud to be an American” shirts!! I’m sure we’ll meet all kinds of new friends!

True story: When I was a kid I was riding my bike on a dirt trail and came upon a hornets nest. In a moment a genius I decided that I would throw rocks at the hornets and then ride quickly away to safety. Well, I managed to score a direct hit, but I also managed to fall off my bike and get stung by about 30 hornets before I escaped.

The moral of my story is: Don’t throw rocks at hornets unless you have a fool-proof exit strategy.
