I think the only reason this has gotten as much attention as it has is because Kathy's a prominent blogger. Female bloggers who have to deal with this shit all the time don't get the media play, but maybe they should.

I get the desire some people have to be complete jackoffs to other people on the Internet, but I just don't get that need to take that farther, to try to hurt someone in real life (for whatever value of "hurt" you want to include there). I don't understand it. Even with the vilest of people I've encountered on the 'net, the idea that I should try to do something to hurt that person in real life has simply never occurred to me, and even if it did, I wouldn't actually do it.

I'm sorry you've had to deal with similar stuff in the past, and I sincerely hope you never have to again.

Re: the Kathy Sierra thing - it's all part and parcel of being a female blogger. I've had the same thing. Worse, in fact - people posting my physical address and encouraging people to go do stuff to me. (Thankfully, that was two houses ago.)

Honestly, I'm surprised at the reaction this is getting... because it happens every day. Not that it should rate as normal.... but, sadly, it does.
