It's trying awfully hard to be exciting, dramatic, and with the big babooms.

And it's succeeding!

They haven't made any bones about what they're aiming for here, and staying true to the Doyle source is not among their aims. I'd rather them be up front about that and let us know what we're in for in advance. I'm looking forward to this one, mainly because of Robert Downey Jr., but also because I'm hoping Guy Ritchie brings the quality he misplaced a few films back.

I dunno. There's a stretch here from an intellectual englishman and a stuffy high society compatriot to... an unkempt lecherous adventurer geek? It's trying awfully hard to be exciting, dramatic, and with the big babooms.

Holmes meets Pirates of the Caribbean?

Ala, I don't know if I'd even bother with this if it weren't for Robert Downey Jr.

Looks like good fluff though :)
