Where are they sitting? What's around the room or area? Is it a brothel? Is it a park? Is it Target? Is it a pediatrician's waiting room? Wherever it is, find <b>something</b>, some object in the room that advances your plot either right then, or many pages later.</p> <p>That's what I'd do.</p> Go back to one of your “sitting around talking” scenes.
